The Assistant Vice President of Technology and Data Engineering is a critical role in ICW Group's digital evolution. This role will provide strategic and execution-level leadership of the cloud and on-premises infrastructure teams, the data engineering team, and the enterprise platform and integration engineering team, and will collaborate with stakeholders to develop long-term strategic roadmaps staying up to date on innovations in technology. This role will support two important areas of focus for the Information Technology team which are migration to the public cloud and building strong data engineering capabilities.
WHAT YOU WILL DO Establishes clear technical vision and strategy that support company operations and business objectives Clearly defines and implements development methodologies and best practices for various projects Provides guidance and standards for the planning and prioritization of resource conflicts, customer demands, and customer support issues to ensure the successful delivery of the committed product roadmap Constructs and adapts appropriate processes for usage within specific projects balancing quality, risk, speed, budget, delivery dates, personnel development, architectural complexity, supportability, and scope Establishes and maintains a technology roadmap in support of department and enterprise goals that address technical debt and platform Develops and conducts engineering operational planning process, including business requirements, project planning, and organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources Masters and ensures teams employ data engineering and development methodologies and software development excellence methods including, Agile, Scrum, DevOps, and various other practices, methods, and tools as required Analyzes current state of the company's technologies, standards, and practices to determine areas for continuous improvement in implementations and operations. Leads infrastructure, and engineering teams to efficiently deliver solutions of the highest quality Manages growth, training, structure of the teams, identifying gaps in the organization and building the team as necessary to meet project requirements and deadlines Ensures projects are executed according to functional and technical requirements, timelines, and quality standards Works with the engineering leaders to establish and maintain standards, design patterns, and frameworks for future projects Serves as the expert with the ability to guide and inspire the best performance, innovation, and utilization of optimal engineering practices Assists with technical reviews and offers guidance, supports, and expands the groundwork for engineering and DevOps practices. Leads the IT Engineering Teams in delivering high quality and timely products and services to the organization Provides direction to the IT engineering team.
Communicates Mission, Values, and other organization operating principles to direct and indirect reports Establishes and maintains the overall work cadence and, in partnership with IT Leadership, ensures performance and outcomes strive for excellence in delivery and customer experience. Ensures that the entire assigned IT team is engaged and that leadership practices for the department encourage development, recognition, and retention Establishes and holds team accountable to and adheres to hiring criteria, on-boarding and training requirements for incoming staff Oversees the performance management and development process for the assigned IT team members and performs performance management duties, development planning and coaching for direct reports Acts as a resource for assigned IT team members to answer questions and solve complex problems Manages assigned IT budget, technology and other resources, workload, and customer requests for IT services. Ensures adherence to all Company policies and procedures and Compliance responsibilities Ensures data quality, adherence to IT security guidelines, profitability and other risk-related metrics for self and members of the team Ensures that training and development is provided on a consistent basis to maintain and enhance skill levels in all IT disciplines; recognizes high potentials and provides additional training, resources and stretch assignments to motivate individual growth.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES. Directly supervises employees within the IT team and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws These responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; conducting performance and salary reviews; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; coaching, mentoring, and developing team members to further their skills and knowledge; creating and monitoring development plans; setting performance expectations/goals; forecasting staffing needs and planning for peak times and absences; enforcing department policies and procedures. WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE.
Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university required with a major or emphasis in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field Minimum 15 years of related experience in data, system or software engineering or development required Minimum 10 years of related experience managing and/or directing an IT team Data or architecture-related certification desired. Cloud Practitioner or more advanced AWS certification preferred. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS. Proven experience developing & implementing cloud migration and adoption strategies, roadmaps, including developing and managing budgets Experience managing public cloud computing technologies and engineering best practices Technical experience in specific technology domains, DEVOPS, cloud computing, cloud platform and shared services, Cloud OPS, infrastructure, security, networking, data, and analytics Deep understanding of core concepts for Public/Private/Hybrid clouds (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, risk compliance, security, identity and access management) Knowledge and experience leading AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, EC2, Glue, EMR, Kinesis, Lambda, DocumentDB, DynamoDB Experience with database design, Microsoft SQL Server Studio Experience with modern data architectures preferred, including Data Lake and Data Mesh Working knowledge of multiple data management domains such as data modeling, integration, warehousing, data quality, security, and governance Strong knowledge of CAPEX and OPEX models, including business case development for cloud migration and cloud licensing practices Broad technical knowledge, project management experience, strong analytic skills, a strategic vision to transform and drive innovative solution.
COMPENSATION The salary range listed for this position is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. If hired at ICW Group, your final base salary compensation will be determined by factors such as skills, experience and/or education. In addition, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
